The Manufacturing Improvement Engineer is responsible for completion of Emergency Work Orders (EWOs) to root cause using World Class Manufacturing methodology (WCM) and ensuring that countermeasures are fully implemented.
The Manufacturing Improvement Engineer conducts manufacturing improvement work in their area to support the performance and operational efficiency of the lines they are accountable for.

As the Manufacturing Improvement Engineer you will be responsible for:
*Perform 5S audit according to the defined schedule and implement the improvement
*Ensure breakdown analysis for all component failures and the implementation of countermeasures to eliminate root causes has been completed
*Ensure the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are reviewed and the gap analysis is carried out on a regular basis to understand and input into the improvement plan.
*Lead the technical element of preventive maintenance, completing work as required
*Ensure effective two way communication with Shift Engineers (inc. details of breakdowns and losses, feedback on breakdown analysis, details of improvements, and transfer of specialist machine knowledge)
*Be involved on equipment ranking process and apply criteria to prioritize maintenance
*Actively participate in design reviews and MP workshops
*Lead relevant Line changes using appropriate project management tools to ensure efficient and successful project management
*For larger projects support the project team on the new equipment or product projects and support a vertical ramp up and changes to all applicable procedures
*Lead improvement activities to improve efficiency and reduce costs, supporting operators to complete kaizens as required.
*Ensure improvements are cost effective before implementation
*Prioritise and lead improvement studies and activities to eradicate chronic and sporadic losses applying systematically appropriate FI tools and techniques
*Ensure improvements are sustainable (eg deliver training, establish new standards, and update inspections)
*Understand principles and parameters of equipment, be able to describe and analyse loss phenomenon and plan to eliminate these losses
*Close skills gaps identified by the skills matrix through proactive planning with Leader
To be successful in the role of Manufacturing Improvement Engineer you will have the following skills and experience:
*Candidates must be time served apprentices and have a minimum NVQ level 3 in Engineering
*Proven experience in a similar role
*Multi skilled engineering experience (mechanical, electrical and software)
*Understanding of 5S, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
*Packaging and/or bottling experience is desirable.
