Plasma Spraying in Engine Construction - Thermal Processes at MTU

In plasma spraying, particles are applied at speeds up to 450 meters per second, forming an additional layer of material.

This thermal process is used to achieve the high standards of MTU, Germany's leading engine manufacturer for military and commercial aviation. It is used in surface technology, for example wear protection. Without these surface coatings, a modern engine would not deliver lasting performance or the required operating times.
