Ellis | PhD Awards | BAE Systems

Research and development can change the world. BAE Systems sponsored my PhD and has helped me apply my research and has now given me a job! Ellis is our 2024 PhD of the year student, winning this year for his research into new types of glass that can transmit both infra-red and visible light.

Ellis was one of five finalists going forward for the prize, with each of our strategic universities submitting its own outstanding PhD student. Other projects included understanding visual clutter, coordinating UAV swarms in search and rescue missions, special pressure-sensitive paints for use in wind tunnels and developing quantum-ready radar systems.
