A vacancy for an Computational fluid dynamics software developer (m/f) has arisen within Airbus commercial Aircraft. You will join the Flight Physics Capabilities Department a transnational team developing the New Generation CODA CFD solver.
Mission and activities
The Flight Physics Capabilities teams are in charge of developing and maintaining the simulation means needed for a wide variety of disciplines such as Aerodynamics, Loads, Handling Qualities, Mass properties and Aircraft Performance. In that mission, these teams play a central role in the on-going end-to-end digitalization of Airbus processes for aircraft design, manufacturing and services, while at the same time supporting the growth of the production and daily support to Customers services.
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has progressed rapidly during the last several decades and has fundamentally changed the aircraft design process. Supporting the aero designer at the beginning, the advances of this computational science, closely coupled with the rapid progress of High Performance Computing (HPC) hardware at the same time, has become an essential capability in the simulation-based engineering design process.
In this role, you will be fully involved in the continuous development, the validation of CODA solver and its integration in the Airbus FlowSimulator framework. You will be supported by our technical experts and will interact with a wide range of customers involved in aerodynamic shape design, fluid-structure interaction simulation, heat transfer, multidisciplinary analysis and optimization processes.
Tasks & accountabilities
Your main activities will include:
developing and working closely within the CODA team across Airbus and with our research partners
contributing to the code review and the development acceptance
supporting the overall and global strategy for the Airbus computational simulation
being involved in the network of highly motivated, experienced and skills researchers and developers
gathering and disseminating knowledge of methodologies, requirements and lessons learnt across the teams
In addition as the Flight Physics capability specialist, you will also:
Showing initiative in the proactive way of working in the Flight Physics environment widely expending usage of transverse workflows and harmonised working environment;
Providing support to customers on applied CFD;
Contributing to the collection of ideas and initiatives on how to improve transverse way of working through Agile method;
We seek individuals who will be able to make a direct contribution to the development of our existing and future tool frameworks.
This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.
You will have the following skills and experience:
Ph.D. in engineering, applied mathematics or computer science plus an industrial experience
Experience in several areas of numerical methods including Finite Volume and High Order CFD methods on structured or unstructured grids fitting with modern HPC hardware
Mastering state of the art Computational Fluid Dynamics methods in one or more areas of CFD or multi-physics modelling including fluid dynamics, heat transfer, fluid-structure interaction, turbulence resolving
Proficient in object oriented programming C++ and Python
Experience developing and testing large scale academic, open source, industrial or commercial CFD codes.
Knowledge of source control, continuous integration and software testing tools.
