A Facilities Lead with a solid background within Operations and Production Engineering is required to join a successful Defence organisation based in the South West area who are a manufacturing company with a high pedigree in design, development, complex machining, assembly, test and project management of defence products.

The Facilities Lead will work closely with the operations and production engineering teams and will be responsible for leading the planning and implementation of a major facilities improvement project. The Facilities Lead will support the facility modifications and upgrades in line with requirements driven by new product introductions ensuring lean working practices are facilitated by the workshop layout. The Facilities Lead will also be required to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of the site utilities and facilities equipment and machinery.

Facilities Lead - Key Responsibilities

  • Managing of a large-scale refurbishment, renovation and office move
  • Maintain all elements of the building fabric both internal and external
  • Ensuring that the facility meets health and safety standards and legal requirements
  • Ensure key services (heat, lighting, power, air conditioning etc) are monitored and effective
  • Plan and implement the design of production plant, offices, and lean production lines
  • Maximise the use of available space and improve production efficiency
  • To produce project budgets and ensure timely delivery of projects within budget
  • Negotiating the best deals with contractors and suppliers
  • To monitor and advise on potential energy efficiency savings
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Environmental, Health & Safety and regulations

Technical Skills and Experience Required for the Facilities Lead

  • Strong team-working and leadership experience within a facilities engineering environment
  • Drive and flexibility to maintain pace of work as priorities and requirements change
  • Motivation and initiative with demonstrated time management and organisational skills
  • The proven ability to lead infrastructure projects at pace
  • Experience of major facilities improvement projects
  • Solidworks CAD experience to develop plant layout
  • Machinery and assembly cell relocation, continuous improvements
  • To be proactive in Risk Management strategies and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and Effective verbal and written communication
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities and good problem-solving skills
  • To be highly motivated with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Commitment to continuing professional development and education
  • Experience and knowledge of CI tools, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
  • Relevant qualification in Health, Safety and Environmental field
