My client is a world class manufacturer, based in Royston, currently seeking to recruit a Production Team Leader to work at their busy Manufacturing Plant. The emphasis for the successful candidate is on excellent Team Leader/Supervisory Skills within a manufacturing environment. Applications are invited from team leaders / managers who have worked in high volume, process driven environments (i.e. chemical, food, agro-chemical, automotive, aerospace, pharmaceutical, metals, refining, or similar).

The purpose of this role is to direct and support the members of two shift teams to effectively meet departmental objectives. The successful candidate will report into the Production Manager and work closely with the Facilities Management & Site Services Co-ordinator in the Engineering team.

This role covers a full range of activities, including:

  • Ensure Team compliance to all relevant legislative and local EHS requirements.
  • Direct team members in the smooth running of the plant in order to meet and exceed output targets as directed by Production Support/Managers.
  • Efficiently organise, plan, prioritise and co-ordinate work tasks, whilst managing available resources
  • Lead team by example, demonstrating commitment and bringing about positive change.
  • Responsibility for team member appraisals, mentoring, general training and development of the Team.
  • Identify and implement improvement, cost saving and sustainable opportunities.
  • Support LEAN implementation in the department

This is a challenging role; the successful applicant will be flexible, determined and self-motivated, with experience of shift work. Regular liaison with Supply Chain, Maintenance, Production Management and internal departments means good communication and people skills are essential. A Team Leading or Management Qualification would be an advantage, as would a fork-lift licence.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Experience and knowledge of production plant operations, including EH&S, security and quality aspects.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make independent decisions
  • Excellent all round communication skills
  • Good organisational ability
  • Analytical approach to problem solving
