My client is a market leading specialist vehicle manufacturer. An opportunity has arisen to appoint a Project Manager to head up their vehicle projects team. The focus of this role is to take responsibility for ensure all aspects of projects are delivered on time, satisfy customer requirements and are profitable for the company. The Project Manager will provide leadership of projects throughout their lifecycle from concept through to production, and involves managing customers and stakeholders (internal and external), planning, scheduling, internal coordination, project execution, delegation of tasks, and relevant commercial activities. Projects run simultaneously and include both prototype and production builds. Other responsibilities for this role include the setting and reporting of KPIs, performance metrics, project milestones, schedules and budget requirements.
Applicants must hold a technical engineering qualification (such as aeronautical, aerospace, automotive, electro-mechanical, production engineering, robotics, etc.). Candidates must also be able to provide evidence of successfully managing the delivery of multiple projects simultaneously from concept through to production and have experience of dealing with internal and external customers. Previous use of ERP/MRP systems and project management software tools such as SAP are desirable. A project management qualification such as APMP or Prince 2 and/or business improvement such as LEAN or Six Sigma are considered beneficial but not essential. Candidates with previous project or programme management experience in an automotive / aerospace / defence production environment are of particular interest.
Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for this role. Equally as important is the ability to work well in a team. This role will involve occasional domestic and overseas travel so a driving licence and passport are highly desirable.
