I am working exclusively with my manufacturing client, based in North London, to recruit an experienced Electrical Controls and Instrumentation (ECI) Engineer into their on-site team of maintenance engineers and technicians at their busy manufacturing plant, with a view to taking up a management / leadership position.
The emphasis for the successful candidate is on excellent knowledge and experience of delivering controls, instrumentation, and electrical power distribution projects within a heavy manufacturing environment. Applications are invited from ECI engineers / electrically-biased multi-skilled engineers / controls and systems engineers / maintenance engineers / project engineers who have worked in high volume, process driven mixed manufacturing environments (i.e. automotive, aerospace, chemical, pharmaceutical, steel, glass, FMCG, refining, recycling, or similar).
The main purposes of this role are: to ensure current and future requirements for electrical power distribution, control systems and instrumentation are met; to provide technical expertise and support in all aspects of ECI across the company; develop and implement contingency plans; and ensure site complies with all EHS requirements and maintenance needs. In addition, the successful candidate will go on to assume team leadership / management responsibilities of the engineering team.

This is a challenging role; the successful applicant will need to be flexible, determined and self-motivated, and technically competent. Candidates must hold a minimum of degree level or equivalent qualification in electrical / controls / systems. Previous experience of working within a heavy manufacturing environment is highly desirable, as is previous team leadership / management / supervisory experience. Good communication and people skills are essential as you will need to quickly develop a close working relationship with members of the engineering team (many of which are long-serving within the company) and have regular liaison with Production Management, other internal departments, contractors and HR.
