Description of the job :
Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Software Architect (f/m) responsible for making high-level design choices, defining software coding standards, tools and platforms.
This position is located in Bezons, suburb of Paris.
You will report to the Software Development Team Leader and have as main interfaces the software engineers, technical managers, product management team and also the maintenance team.

STYRIS® is an AIRBUS product line for collection, processing, consolidation, enrichment, distribution and display of data deriving from a wide range of maritime sensors such as radars, automatic identification system, radio direction finder, cameras, weather stations and sonars.
STYRIS® is based on a modular system architecture allowing integration and user friendly and ergonomic HMI to provide operators with the platform to monitor and interact with critical maritime situations, and provide the means to quickly communicate to all relevant authorities.
Airbus Defence and Space is providing for more than 20 years integrated maritime safety and security solutions to Port authorities, Coast Guards, Navies and also commercial administration all around the world. Over 250 Systems are in service in over 50 countries 20 are currently under development. 85% of our business is international.

This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.

Task & accountabilities :
Your main tasks and responsibilities will include to:

• Own the STYRIS® software architecture and guarantees its consistency and integrity
with the changes
• Ensure that the design of the STYRIS® product is good, meets the Airbus standards (modularity, simplicity, extensibility, maintainability, security, modifiability ...). The software architect owns the STYRIS® SDD (Software Design Document)
• Identify the software weaknesses of the STYRIS® product and continuously propose improvement solutions
• Understand and plan evolutionary paths
• Review the design and code of the software to be developed to ensure the quality by avoiding complexity, advocating clarity
• Assess new emerging technologies (programming languages, operating systems ...) and choosing the technologies for the implementation of software components, plan for new technology insertion
• Create unified development standards
• Do performance quality control
• Resolve technical disputes and make trade-offs
• Communicate successfully all concepts and guidelines to development team
• Collaborative work with the software team and provide mentoring as required. This will allow the software architect to become familiar with the teams's skills, specific experiences and knowledge for the problems at hands
• Complete technical support of the customer and RD projects.

This role will involve some occasional business travels and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required profile

Required skills :
• Educated to a Master or diploma in computer science or a comparable field of study.
• 5+ years of successful experience as software architect : software development and coding in various languages - (java is a must have)
• Broad and deep technical knowledge in several technological stacks at a decent level and should have a good understanding of a few other ones.
• Excellent knowledge of UML andother modelling methods.
• Sensors : Radars, VHF, RDF, AIS.
• Applying agile methods, such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Sence of ownership and responsibility. Costs counscious.
• Customers oriented with good communication skills / problem solving attitude.
• Good organizational and leadership skills as well as effective willingness and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams in an international environment.
• Analytical skills.
• Awareness of distributed Command & Control and Surveillance Systems.
• Fluent in French and Advanced in English (oral & writing).
