Flying Colours Corp. first Canadian MRO to achieve full CAAC approval

Flying Colours Corp., the Canada-based maintenance, completions, and refurbishments specialists, announced today that it has become the first Canadian MRO to receive complete airframe and specialized service CCAR 145 MOC, (China Civil Aviation Regulations 145 Maintenance Organization Certificate), approval from the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the CAAC. The certificate, which was awarded on 10 January 2014, is awarded to foreign companies that already hold their own national CAA approvals and complements the growing list of approvals held by the Peterborough based business.
The approval enables Flying Colours Corp. to conduct full airframe inspections, repairs and scheduled maintenance, along with specialised services including sheet metal work, composite repairs, paintwork, interior completions and modifications on Chinese registered aircraft at its expanding Peterborough, Ontario facility. The initial airframes approved for work include the complete family of Bombardier Global Express aircraft and Challenger 601, 604, 605, & 850 models. Flying Colours Corp. will continue to add to the model types listed as customer demand requires.
Glenn Williams VP Maintenance for Flying Colours Corp. says of the approval, “We have had an increased amount of inquires from our Chinese client base as many of the customers for whom we’ve already completed aircraft now want to bring their other aircraft to us for work. Most of these aircraft are B-Registered so the approval is very important for developing future business for Flying Colours.”
The Canadian company has already begun work on a Chinese registered aircraft at its Peterborough facility. The Challenger 604 is undergoing an entire interior refit which is scheduled for completion in March 2014. “This is a great achievement for Flying Colours Corp.” continued Williams, “China is a significant business aviation region that continues to grow and with our new approval we are well placed to support this expanding market at a crucial time. Being the first Canadian MRO to achieve complete airframe and specialized approval also speaks volumes about our international ambitions and expansion plans too.” In addition to the Peterborough based activity Flying Colours Corp. provides mobile maintenance work in China, and the new approval supports this growing part of its business activity.
The approval had been in process for a year and required extensive documentation and paperwork to satisfy the rigorous requirements of the CAAC. This latest approval adds to the existing broad range of maintenance approvals that Flying Colours Corp. has achieved. Current approvals include Transport Canada, FAA, EASA, Caymans, GACA which combined enables the business to offer on-going services to private aircraft on the relevant varying registries.
