JetBlue Airways pilots today filed authorization cards with the National Mediation Board (NMB) to hold an election for representation by the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA). The NMB will verify the cards and schedule a representation vote to elect ALPA in the next few weeks.
“A powerful majority of JetBlue pilots have made an important decision for their collective future,” said ALPA president Capt. Lee Moak. “While they work for a great company, they can’t legally negotiate the terms of their employment. They work under policies that can change daily. They realize that the Air Line Pilots Association, International, has the unmatched professional resources and services needed to help them achieve their goals.”
The election will start approximately two weeks after the NMB confirms that JetBlue pilots filed sufficient cards, and the Internet/telephone secret ballot is expected to be conducted over a period of a few weeks in March.
“JetBlue pilots told us they are ready for a strong and proven voice,” Moak said. “Now it’s up to them to take the next step—to vote for ALPA in the upcoming election and make resources available to achieve their goals.”
