The Space Council is a mixed economic society whose President is Pierre Cohen, Mayor of Toulouse and Jean Baptiste Desbois, Director General. Opened in 1997, the Cit de l'espace is one of the largest parks in France. European Capital of Space in Toulouse, in Midi-Pyr n es, is the first European space station. Acting in great interaction with the largest French and European space organizations, the Espace Cit is now the European reference site for the dissemination of space and astronomy culture to the general public. The Cit de l'espace is spread over 5 hectares and welcomes an average of 270,000 visitors each year.
