Flight Testing: Charting New Territory for Aircraft based Radio Occultation

In February 2020, Acubed's Project Monark team did a seven-day stint in Laramie, Wyoming, where they worked with the team at the University of Wyomings Atmospheric Research Flight Center, a fully-instrumented flying laboratory partially supported by the National Science Foundation. They tested out their GNSS-RO (Radio Occultation) sensor in a fully-characterized flight environment on a research aircraft to capture the best dataset possible for assimilation quality bending angles for weather forecast improvement.
