ALS have supported a major infrastructure project to increase the time and capacity for the rail sector at Werrington junction in the UK throughout 2020.
The latest movement involved arranging the transportation of 2 Tunnel Boring Machinery (TBM) sections on behalf of Morgan Sindall.
The aim of the project is to increase capacity for passenger trains on the East Coast Main Line (ECML) by building a new two track railway line that dives under the East Coast Main Line (ECML) located North of Peterborough.
A separate track will be created to separate the track from high speed passenger traffic where trains cross at Werrington Junction.
ALS delivered the TBMS earlier in the year and after their first drive under the mainline moved them back to the reception portal to prepare for the 2nd drive.
The ALS team have a wealth of over 40 years knowledge and experience in transporting oversized cargo across the globe. Some of the tunnelling projects ALS international teams have been involved in have included: Thames Tideway Super Sewer, Crossrail and National Grid Projects which have involved arranging the transportation of tunnelling machines both nationally and internationally.
