Designing the layout of an aircraft cabin is not an easy task for aeronautical engineers. The amount of thinking that goes into the interior of aircraft is substantial. From leg room to seat depth to storage bin location and capacity, every detail is carefully planned in terms of economy, efficiency, level of service, and safety. Often, a few millimeters can make all the difference. Modern aircraft cabins must be able to:

Accommodate several dozens or hundreds passengers and their luggage
Provide catering operations such as the serving meals and beverages in flight
Provide sufficient lavatories and individualized in-flight entertainment systems
