The P.180 MSN1053 an Avanti manufactured in 2001 - is the first of 19 aircraft operated by Italian Armed Forces to go through a heavy mid-life upgrade process.

The new configuration, named AVANTI II +, entails a full update of the on-board avionics brought to the standards required by the most recent instrumental procedures and other systems upgrades.

The prototype will now perform flight test activities for civil certification of such modifications and later the qualification tests to obtain a new Military Type Certificate.
