A vacancy for a Model Based Systems Engineer (m/f) has arisen within Airbus commercial Aircraft. You will join the Flight Physics Capabilities Department to define, develop and implement the MBSE (Model Based System Engineering) enabled MDAO (Multi-Disciplinary Analysis and Optimization) methodologies for supporting the Overall Aircraft Design (OAD) development processes in the frame of the Airbus Digital Transformation.
Mission and activities
The Flight Physics Capabilities teams are in charge of developing and maintaining the simulation means needed for a wide variety of disciplines such as Aerodynamics, Loads, Handling Qualities, Mass properties and Aircraft Performance. In that mission, these teams play a central role in the on-going end-to-end digitalization of Airbus processes for aircraft design, manufacturing and services, while at the same time supporting the growth of the production and daily support to Customers services.
You will identify the requirements for the medium- to high-fidelity Flight-Physics related processes in the context of overall aircraft design development phases in applying Systems Engineering (SE) principle.
You will actively support the development of models in SysML describing the aircraft simulation processes at different depths and connect these SysML models with the MDAO simulation processes.
You will exercise both thought leadership and practical engineering application, by leveraging their systems engineering and MBSE experiences to help grow Airbus Flight Physics Center.
The position requires collaboration with teammates from different backgrounds in a fast-paced environment including engineering, software development, architecture and also with external research partners to implement and adapt their technical solutions and methodologies to Airbus industrial context.
The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to self-teach new skills and techniques encompassing all disciplines in Flight Physics.
Tasks & accountabilities
Your main activities will include:
Deploying Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology in Airbus Flight Physics Center
Identifying and modeling system requirements
Integrating models to modern requirements management, architecture, and systems engineering software
Developing and extending system models using existing requirements, interface documentation, and related design and systems engineering documents
Providing MBSE/SysML expertise and related support to the Flight-Physics systems engineering team
Application of SE modelling in SysML and systems modeling methods with CAMEO
Application of SE/MBSE at disciplinary level (aero, load, performance, weight, flight mechanics) in Overall Aircraft Design context
Developing interfaces (in python) between MBSE SysML and MDAO simulation processes in GEMSEO.
This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.
You will have the following skills and experience:
PhD or Engineer degree in aeronautics, System Engineering, applied mathematics with a professional experience.
Experience applying SysML to Systems Engineering efforts and working with modern SysML tools
Experience with Cameo System Modeler or 3DX RFLP
Experience in MDAO with GEMSEO, ModelCenter or OpenMDAO is a plus
