One of these challenges includes bearing rings. The pressure at the rolling contact area and the cyclic over-rolling creates fatigue in the rings when the bearing is in operation. To be able to cope with this fatigue, steel rings need to be hardened. However, depending on specifications, we may also use stainless steels, high-temperature steels or rolling elements made of ceramic material. Michaela started with SKF Austria back in 1996 and have been in many different roles over the years. The room for professional and personal development is one of the things she likes most with the company and over the years she has gotten to know a lof of people around the world. Due to the current situation worldwide Im still stationed in the Engineering and Process Development Department. Right now I am working with our Tooling Specialist on toolings cost reduction. I am learning about 3D printing aspects, looking for parts we can create using our FDM 3D printer. At the same time we are working on printing face shields and special door handles all to reduce the risk and slow down the spread of Corona, wherever it is possible. Welcome back to Trainee Tuesday! This is Cosmina from Italy and I would like to share a fact from one of our Italian factories with you. During last year, a fully automatic line was set up in Villar Perosa. The robotized line can automatically measure all bearings quotes, pair outer and inner rings and assemble complete gear box bearings from 40mm to 150mm outer diameter. The target is to measure, pair and assemble 300 bearings each day. It is not only efficient when it comes to time savings, but mainly because the precision of all measurements in combination with the grinding steps, lead to a higher product quality. Other pluses are short re-setting times, human error removal and simplicity in running it, thus not requiring highly specialized employees. #SKF #SKFglobalgraduate
