Liebherr - Combined forces Tandem lift of the HLC 150000 components in Rostock, Germany

One of the largest tandem lifts that ever took place on our company premises: the loading of the #HLC150000 components for OHT's Alfa Lift earlier this year in Rostock, Germany.


What happened?
A few months ago, the deck cargo ship BigLift Barentsz left the Liebherr site at the port of Rostock with two remarkable, giant crane components ready for installation. The white painted slewing platform, as well as the characteristic A-frame of the upcoming Heavy Lift Crane HLC 150000, started their journey to being assembled on OHT's next-generation offshore wind foundation vessel #AlfaLift.


What equipment was used?
The tandem lift of the two large components was realized at the Liebherr site in #Rostock using two strong representatives of their kind: the #LR11350 crawler crane and the #TCC78000.


What is the HLC?
The Liebherr Heavy Lift Crane (HLC) is specially designed for the installation of offshore wind turbine foundations as well as the installation and dismantling of offshore installations in the oil and gas industry. Its unique combination of features is the foundation for the HLC 150000 to play a key role in installing current and future wind farms around the world. With a maximum lifting capacity of 3,000 tonnes at 30 metres and 1,000 tonnes at 76 metres outreach, the HLC 150000 is ready for a wide range of applications.


What is the Alfa Lift?
OHT's vessel Alfa Lift is the worlds' largest and most innovative, custom-built offshore wind foundation installation vessel. The first project of this vessel is the construction of the wind farm Dogger Bank A", about 130 kilometres off the north-east coast of England.


Who was involved?
As often, a collaboration of several companies helped to make the project a success. Partners of Liebherr were #Sarens and #BigLift, both companies specialized in this kind of heavy lift.
