A leading producer of high-quality flat products sought to enhance sealing conditions on their hot strip mills, particularly on a seven-stand 4-Hi mill. The existing seals faced challenges due to the mills high speed of 24 m/s. The customer reported rapid aging and rubber hardening issues. To tackle this problem, SKF proposed TR3/M/PTV seals featuring a patented PTFE band vulcanized on the lip. These seals offered an extended lifespan and reduced friction on contact surfaces.
