#23: Impressions of thermal coating.

More than half of all engine components receive thermal coatings. Dozens of different materials are available and these are applied using a wide variety of techniques. Components are coated with heat protection and sealing protection layers.

The first step is to cover the components with silicone rings so that only the correct areas are coated. The surface of the component is then roughened in the blasting system and then transferred to the coating system. The heat protection and sealing protection layers are applied using a robot and torch. After the machining process, the components are measured and checked to ensure that the correct dimensions have been sprayed on. Finally, the parts are sent to the next department.

#23: Impressionen aus der thermischen Oberflächenbeschichtung.

Mehr als die Hälfte aller Triebwerksbauteile werden thermisch beschichtet. Dutzende verschiedene Werkstoffe stehen hierfür zur Verfügung, die mittels unterschiedlichster Verfahrensvarianten aufgebracht werden.

Dabei werden Bauteile mit Hitzeschutz- und Verschließschutzschichten beschichtet. Der erste Arbeitsschritt ist, die Bauteile mit Silikonringen abdecken, sodass nur die richtigen Bereiche beschichtet werden. Anschließend wird in der Strahlenanlage die Oberfläche des Bauteils aufgeraut und anschließend in die Beschichtungsanlage gebracht. Die Hitzeschutz- und Verschließschutzschichten wird mithilfe eines Roboters und Brenners aufgetragen.

Nach dem Bearbeitungsprozess werden die Bauteile gemessen und geprüft, ob das richtige Maß aufgespritzt wurde. Abschließend kommen die Teile in die nächste Abteilung.
