#DubaiAirshow 2019: Day 2 - Highlights

Major announcements by airlines in the United Arab Emirates created headlines during Day 2 of the Dubai Airshow, with this new business involving 170 aircraft marking important endorsements for Airbus single-aisle A320 Family and the widebody A350 XWB. The first announcement was Dubai-based Emirates Airline purchase agreement for 50 A350-900 versions of the A350 XWB, followed by Sharjah-based Air Arabias firm order for 120 A320 Family aircraft (composed of 73 A320neo and 27 A321neo versions, along with 20 extra-long-range A321XLRs).

Also at the Dubai Airshow today, Airbus innovation once again was at the forefront with the companys announcement of fellofly a fuel savings and emissions reduction concept inspired by the V-shaped formations of migrating birds. This concept foresees the upwash created by a cruising airliner to be utilised by another aircraft flying 3 km. behind it, retrieving energy from the lead airplanes wake with the potential of 5-10% fuel savings for the follower aircraft on long-haul trips. #DAS19
