WESCAM MX-10 Gen4-IR-person disposes gun during arrest

Pilot and TFO responded to assist an agency search for a suspect who bailed out after a pursuit. The aircrew responded and searched a wooded area and several neighborhoods with negative results. The aircrew remained out on a patrol flight and self-dispatched to assist a PD with a reported aggravated robbery. The aircrew arrived first on-scene as a suspect was getting in a maroon Ford Explorer. The aircrew directed ground units to the location and as officers were attempting to make contact the suspect fled in the vehicle at a high rate of speed almost striking the officers. The suspect evaded apprehension for several blocks before turning into an alley way and getting his vehicle stuck in the mud. The suspect then exited the vehicle and began to flee on foot down the alleyway with a pistol in his hand. As the aircrew coordinated responding officers to the suspects location the suspect threw the pistol in the backyard and then surrendered. After the suspect was taken into custody the aircrew talked ground units to the location of the pistol. It was later determined the suspect entered a residence and attempted to rob and shoot an individual inside while a family member called 911. The suspect was charged with multiple felonies for Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Robbery, Evading in a Vehicle, and Unlawful Carry of a Weapon.
