Lion Air chooses Messier-Bugatti-Dowty wheels and brakes for A320 fleet

Indonesian airline Lion Air has chosen Messier-Bugatti-Dowty wheels and carbon brakes for its upcoming fleet of 60 A320ceo jetliners. These aircraft will be delivered from 2014 to 2017, with the first entering service in October 2014. The entire fleet will be operated by Batik Air, a premium airline that belongs to Lion Air, launched in May 2013.
This latest contract further consolidates Messier-Bugatti-Dowty’s leadership in the Asian and global A320 wheel and brake market.
Messier-Bugatti-Dowty carbon brakes have largely proven their performance and reliability over the years. Featuring excellent oxidation resistance compared with the competition, MBD brakes also provide significant weight savings, therefore contributing to a reduction in fuel consumption, allowing operators to reduce both costs and CO2 emissions.
Rusdi Kirana, CEO of Lion Air Group said: "As a current customer of Messier-Bugatti-Dowty wheels and brakes for our ATR 72 fleet, we have experienced first-hand the high quality performance of MBD products and support services. This motivated our decision to once again call upon Messier-Bugatti-Dowty for our A320 fleet."
Vincent Mascré, Chairman and CEO of Messier-Bugatti-Dowty, added: "Having a repeat customer is particularly gratifying, and we are delighted with Lion Air’s selection. To ensure close proximity and the level of support expected by our customers in this dynamic market, we are extending our regional production capacity, with the construction of a new carbon disk manufacturing and refurbishment plant in Sendayan, Malaysia, which will enter into service in 2015.”
