Iberia has announced that at its board meeting held on 20 December last it agreed to appoint Ricardo Goizueta as member of the board of the airlineand of its parent IB Opco Holding S.L., the appointment now pending inscription in the official Mercantile Registry. Goizueta is chairman of Tourmundial and board member of Viajes El Corte Inglés.
Goizueta will serve as vice-chairman of the Iberia board, and also as head of the Safety Committee and member of the Auditing and Retributions Committees.
He replaces Jorge Pont, an Iberia board member since the airline was privatised in 1999.
With a degree in Economics and Business Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid, Goizueta has spent most of his career at El Corte Inglés in Spain and the United States. He now heads the Digital and Customer Strategy Areas of El Corte Inglés, and since 2020 he has served as chairman of Tourmundial and board member of Viajes El Corte Inglés.
In announcing the change, Iberia expressed its gratitude to Jorge Pont for his 22 years of service on the board, a period during which the airline underwent major transformations.
The Iberia board has nine members and a board secretary. Representing Garanair are Víctor del Pozo, CEO of El Corte Inglés; Óscar Fernández de Llano, CFO of El Corte Inglés, and the newly-appointed Ricardo Goizueta,chairman of Tourmundial and board member of Viajes El Corte Inglés.
Representing IAG is Carolina Martinoli, Manager for People, Corporate Affairs and Sustainabilty. Representing Iberia are the airline’s Chairman and CEO Javier Sánchez Prieto; its Sales, Network Development, and Alliances Manager María Jesús López Solás; its CFO José Antonio Barrionuevo; its Operations Manager Rafael Jiménez Hoyos; and its Corporate Manager Juan Cierco. Board Secretary and Iberia’s Chief Legal Officer is Pedro García-Torres.
