Orbital 2 Mission to the space station previewed

The prelaunch status of the upcoming Orbital-2 Mission to the International Space Station was discussed during a pre-launch briefing seen on NASA Television.

Orbital Sciences Corporation's Cygnus cargo spacecraft is scheduled to launch from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia on Sunday, July 13 at 12:52 p.m. ET, with more than 3,000 pounds of supplies for the station, including science experiments to expand the research capability of the Expedition 40 crew members aboard the orbiting laboratory, crew provisions, spare parts and experiment hardware.

This and future commercial cargo resupply flights will ensure a robust national capability to deliver critical science research to orbit, significantly increasing NASA's ability to conduct new science investigations to the only laboratory in microgravity.
