MARSBalloon: sending UK students to space

Watch the MARSBalloon project launch 55 student experiments 30km up into the Earth's atmosphere. At this altitude, the experiments are subjected to Mars-like conditions, including pressures 1/100th of sea level and temperatures as low as -55°C!

The aim of the project is to encourage young people to take up careers in the UK space industry. MARSBalloon was devised and is run by young space engineers from Thales Alenia Space UK with funding from the Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC).
