CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- UTC Aerospace Systems will display its business jet media server in booth C6922 at the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) convention being held October 22 through October 24 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev. UTC Aerospace Systems is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

The media server is an easy-to-use networked storage center for the ultimate digital entertainment experience. It allows easy sharing of photos, music, and full HD 1080p movies within the In-Flight Entertainment system. Media can be streamed from the server to media players and passenger personal electronic devices like Android? or iPhone®. A full 1080p High Definition video output allows playback and distribution to Platinum IFE systems using HDMI or 3G-SDI connections. Users of Android and iPhone®/iPod touch®/iPad® can easily browse shared photos, music, and videos by streaming the content directly to the server and playing back via the video output, or by flinging the content to any onboard media playback devices. The media server brings the ultimate in digital theater enjoyment to business jet aircraft.

An integrated media server allows personal electronic devices connected via a network to share media via DLNA® which allows access of media from internal hard drives or from networked passenger carry-on media. A passenger's smart device can also function as a remote control to fling any shared media to any playback device on the IFE network.

The media server is a component of the UTC Aerospace Systems' Platinum 2.0 enhanced upgrade offering to existing Platinum 1080p HD IFE/CMS system. The Platinum 2.0 package brings the ease of mobile connectivity to the architecture of the existing Platinum IFE/CMS by offering a new line of high-definition passenger controls and touch screens with gesture control.
